Stepping Stones – Transition to Preschool
A Preschool Age Opportunity for Sept. 2017 – May 2018
This class combines the best of both worlds: Traditional ECFE and Preschool. Stepping Stones is for preschoolers ages 3 – 4 years of age.
Tuesday afternoons are a typical ECFE class. During parent/child interaction time, the early childhood teacher will set up fun activities that encourage emerging literacy and mathematical thinking skills. Parents meet with a parent educator and other families to discuss a variety of topics that relate to parenting a preschooler. You are able to build on goals you have set for your child. Parents meet with the early childhood teacher twice a year to evaluate these goals.
Thursdays you will drop your child off for their preschool experience. Children will practice developing social skills by sharing, taking turns, using manners, pretending, following directions and listening…all in a play-based environment.
Children are not required to be potty trained to attend Stepping Stones class. See note below.
Classes meet from 12:45–2:45 p.m. and follows the regular ECFE calendar.
Cost is $85 per month. Sibling care is available on Tuesdays for $16 per month. To register, send in a registration form with a $40 non-refundable registration fee, Registration will be on a first come basis.
For tuition assistance options call 952-232-3009.
Note: Toileting Procedures
On Thursdays, the children go into the bathrooms on their own. Practicing with a parent on Tuesdays at school and at home is important. Children should dress in clothing that is easy for them to manage themselves. Staff will assist by coaching children in self-help skills.
Although children are not required to be potty trained and can wear diapers/pull-ups, staff will not change diapers. If a child requires a diaper change, staff will contact a parent or family member and/or assist the child in the bathroom to attend to their own needs.
Please discuss any individual toileting concerns with the staff.
