Enrollment and Application Information

The application process for Impact Academy at Orchard Lake for the 2017-18 school year opened on Nov. 1 and closed on Feb. 1. Families who applied will be notified on Feb. 10, 2017 of their enrollment or wait list status.

2017-18 Application Process

Primary Goals of the Enrollment Process:

  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary will attempt to reflect the demographic composition of the current attendance area for student enrollment.
  • The equity application pool provides for identification of applications that support the goal of Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary reflecting the demographic composition of the attendance for student enrollment.
  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary grade levels will meet the class size guidelines as designated by the school board. (Guidelines: K-24 students, 1st-24 students, 2nd-28 students, 3rd-30 students and 4th-5th 32 students)

Terms and Conditions for Attendance Area Students:

  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary is the neighborhood school for the assigned boundary. Families who live in the attendance area will not need to take any action for the 17-18 school year and beyond.
  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary families who want to consider options other than their neighborhood school may do so through the current district intra-district enrollment process by December 15, 2016.
    • Option #1 Christina Huddleston with access to bus transportation.
    • Option #2 Intra-District enrollment process to any other Lakeville Elementary. Families are responsible for transportation.  Based on space available at each building, final intra-district enrollments will not be complete until late Spring 2017 http://isd194.org/new-families/student-enrollment/intra-district-enrollment/
  • All students who move into the Orchard Lake boundary during the school year will be granted automatic enrollment
  • Special education services are available in Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary, however, based on the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and level of need, a different placement may be determined by the school personnel and parents.

Terms and Conditions for Lakeville Area Public School Residents not in the School Attendance Area:

  • Current families who have intra-district enrolled into Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary from outside the attendance area will have preferred enrollment status including sibling preference and do not need to take action for the 17-18 school year
  • Sibling preference will be offered to families based on space available at each grade.
  • Sibling preference is granted when a sibling is currently enrolled at Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary.
  • Siblings need to complete an application in order to be granted preference.
  • If all siblings are new to Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary, sibling preference does not apply.
  • If applications exceed available space, a  waiting list will be generated by grade level and families will be notified of their status as space is available.
  • Applications will NOT be handled on a first-come, first serve basis. There will be a random selection process conducted the week of  February 6-10, 2017
  • 85 percent of the total open seats each year will be reserved for ISD 194 residents
  • After March 10, 2017 any remaining seats allocated to outside of district families will be allocated to ISD 194 residents
  • If seats remain open after the wait lists have been cleared, an additional application process may be opened the week of March 13-17, 2017.
  • Special education services are available in Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary, however, based on the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and level of need, a different placement may be determined by the school personnel and parents.

Terms and Conditions for Open Enrollment families outside of the Lakeville Area Public Schools:

  • Current families who have open enrolled into Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary from outside the ISD 194 boundaries will have preference enrollment status including sibling preference.
  • Sibling preference will be offered to families based on space available at each grade.
  • Sibling preference is granted when a sibling is currently enrolled at Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary.
  • Siblings need to complete an application in order to be granted preference.
  • If all siblings are new to Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary, sibling preference does not apply.

Timeline:

  • Marketing and Parent Outreach to families November to February 2016-17
  • Applications will be accepted from November 1, 2016 to February 1, 2017
  • A random selection process will be conducted the week of February 6-10, 2017
  • Families will be notified of placement or wait-list status on February 10,  2017
  • Out of district enrollment closes and remaining seats are allocated to ISD 194 residents closes on March 10, 2017
  • If seats remain open after the wait lists have been cleared, an additional application process may be opened the week of March 13-17, 2017.
  • 2017-18 Wait Lists will remain open until September 15, 2017 at that time the wait lists will be dissolved. Interested applicants will need to reapply in the 2018-19 cycle.

Application Types:

Preference Enrollments: (Automatic Enrollment)

  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary is the assigned neighborhood school for your attendance area
  • Currently enrolled in Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary
  • Sibling preference with an application when space is available

Equity Application Pool: (Application Needed)

You must be a resident of Lakeville Area Public Schools in order to be eligible for the equity pool

  • One identified indicator qualifies for Equity Pool
  • Students who identify a language other than English as their home language
  • Family qualifies for Free or Reduced Lunch

Standard Application Pool:  (Application Needed)

  • Sibling preference granted when space is available
  • If criteria for Equity Application Pool is not met, applications will be standard pool applications.

Random Selection Process:

  • Preference Enrollment for Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary determines number of open seats per grade level. (2016-17 Guidelines: K-24, 1st-24, 2nd-28, 3rd -30, 4th-5th- 32)
  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary will determine number of seats available per grade for ISD 194 Residents as designated in the Terms and Conditions. Available spaces will be allocated to applicant pools based on alignment to the enrollment goal of having Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary enrollment demographics reflect the attendance area population as a whole.
  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary will determine number of seats available per grade for out of district Open Enrollment applications as designated by the Terms and Conditions.  Available spaces will be allocated to applicant pools based on alignment to the enrollment goal of having Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary enrollment demographics reflect the attendance area population as a whole.
  • When determining the number of seats available results in a fraction, the equity applicant pool enrollment number will be rounded up. Example:  26% of 76 available seats is 19.26 so 20 seats would be allocated to the equity applicant pool and 56 seats to the standard applicant pool.
  • Placements will occur using a random selection process.  Actual allocations will be determined on an annual basis.  A sample of typical statewide data for the application pools are:
    • 28% of the available spaces for Equity Application Pool
    • 72% of the available spaces for Standard Application Pool
  • The equity pool applications selection process will be conducted first. In the event that applications remain after all allocated seats have been filled. Those applications will be moved to the standard application pool.
  • The standard applications selection process will be conducted after the equity pool is complete.  There will be a ISD194 allocation of open seats and Open Enrollment allocation of seats.
  • In the event that all of the available spaces for Open Enrollment families do not fill after completion of step 7 and ISD 194 residents remain on the waiting list, the waiting list will be used to fill any available spaces after March 10, 2017.
  •  In the event that all of the available spaces for ISD 194 families do not fill after completion of step 7 and Open Enrollment families remain on the waiting list, the waiting list will be used to fill any available spaces after March 10, 2017. 
  • Once the first Selection Process is complete and all wait list families have been enrolled, an additional application process may be opened the week of March 13-17, 2017.  If applications exceed space, a new wait list will be generated and families will be notified of their status as space is available.
  • After the second Selection Process, any additional applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis when space allows.
  • Wait lists will dissolve at a designated date usually the end of the second week of school.  Wait list families are encouraged to apply again for the following school year.
