Who needs to apply to Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary?

How are applications accepted?

Applications are NOT handled on a first-come, first serve basis. There will be a random selection process conducted the week of February 6-10, 2017. If applications exceed available space, a waiting list will be generated and families will be notified if their status changes. Details can be found on the Impact Academy Enrollment Page.

Is transportation provided to Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary?

Transportation is not provided for any open enrolled students. Families who live in the assigned attendance area will be provided bus transportation to Christina Huddleston. Bus routes are not typically complete until later in the summer.  Bus fees will be determined based on your distance from home to Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary aligned with current district policies.

What if my student has an IEP?

Special education services are available in Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary, however, based on the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and level of need, a different placement may be determined by the school personnel and parents. 

Why is there an Equity Pool?

  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary will attempt to reflect the demographic composition of the current student enrollment.
  • The equity application pool provides for identification of applications that support the goal of Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary reflecting demographic composition.

What are the Curriculum and Assessment Tools used in Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary?

  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary teachers are responsible for the students’ learning of the same state standards.
  • All state and district-wide assessments (MCA, MAP, AIMS, DRA2) will be given to Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary students according to their grade level placement.
  • Students ofImpact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary will receive supplemental support to accelerate their learning, if they are not at grade-level. 
  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary will divide the school year into trimesters and provide a reporting tool of student progress.
  • Families will be provided a document marking a student’s progress to match the literacy and math pathways or personalized plan.
  • Students will be benchmarked in the areas of literacy and math to determine their instructional level by strand using the pathways of learning.
  • When students have mastered a group of learning targets (a module), then they will move on to the next module and possibly a different target teacher.

What does the Daily Schedule look like for students in Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary?

  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary students will have the same start and end time to their school day and follow the same district elementary school calendar.
  • Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary students will experience lunch and recess in a multi-age format. They will have 40 min. for lunch and recess.
  • Each Impact Academy at Orchard Lake Elementary community will follow the same block schedule. For example, all students will receive math instruction at the same time.
  • Literacy block will be 120 min. and math block will be 75 min. for all students.
