Tom Dasovich has been named the new activities director at Lakeville South High School, following approval by the Board of Education March 28.
During the past two years, Dasovich has served as activities director at Watertown-Mayer High School, said Dr. John Braun, principal at Lakeville South High School.
As activities director at Watertown-Mayer High School, he oversaw the implementation of new programs in data collection, activities management and fundraising. Also, the overall student-athlete and student-performer participation numbers increased during his tenure. Before his tenure at Watertown-Mayer, Dasovich taught and coached at Minnetonka High School, Henry Sibley High School and Columbia Heights High School.
Dasovich has a wide variety of experiences in co-curricular activities. He was a featured MSHSL clinic speaker on effective social media strategies. He has been an assistant football and basketball coach, a knowledge bowl advisor, and has been involved with theater productions. He served as a head boys’ basketball coach for 13 years. He is Henry Sibley High School’s all-time wins leader in boys basketball and guided Minnetonka High School Boys Basketball team to their best consecutive four-year winning percentage in school history. He led three teams to the Minnesota State Boys AAAA Basketball Tournament.
“Tom emerged as the preferred candidate after an extensive process that included multiple interviews with all stakeholder groups and a site visit,” Braun said. “During the interview process and site visit, Tom’s strong leadership skills, his ability to hold people accountable, organizational strengths and relationship development became very evident. I am confident Tom will provide our activities department with strong leadership and vision.”
“As Lakeville South’s Activities Director, I will work to create a climate of positive interactions that promote a culture of success for all students with an atmosphere of respect and understanding. I am passionate about student success, and I am honored to join the Lakeville South High School community,” Dasovich said.
Dasovich is married, and he and his wife, Leah, have two daughters. Dasovich will begin his duties as LSHS activities director on July 1.
