Bus Driver Appreciation Day 2018Minnesota School Bus Driver Appreciation Day is February 28

Lakeville Area Public Schools celebrated Minnesota School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, as proclaimed by Governor Dayton, Feb. 28 in partnership with school districts across the state. Students and staff celebrated District 194 bus drivers by giving handwritten thank you notes, drawings and treats to the drivers throughout the day.

“Many cards and kind notes were made by students for the bus drivers and aides, which were adorable and priceless.” Student Transportation Manager Laura Peterson said. “Our drivers really appreciated reading through the cards.”

Over 100 Lakeville Area bus drivers, who are employed through Schmitty and Sons Bus Company in Lakeville, support safely transporting over 9,000 students twice every school day, to and from 1,425 bus stops throughout the Lakeville Area. Last school year, District 194 buses traveled 1,784,229 miles in total. On Feb. 28 the school board, administration, students and staff extended extra appreciation to these drivers for all they do to forward the mission of Lakeville Area Public Schools.
