Summer School

Welcome to Lakeville Area Learning Center Summer Program 2020

The dates for Summer School have not been determined.  Please check back after the 1st of the year.

Summer Services

Credit Recovery (Current grades 9+): This program provides short but intense classes for high school students who are behind in credits and to enhance students’ ability in a specific area of study. All students must be referred to Summer Credit Recovery by their dean, counselor, or principal.  In addition, all students must meet the state criteria for entering an Area Learning Center. Students are able to make up missed credits in English, math, science, and social studies.

Work Experience (Current grades 11-12)Selected students will be eligible to participate in the Work Experience Program. Students will be referred by deans based on the following criteria:

  • Currently have a job that pays a taxable wage
  • Behind in credits, in need of at least 2 elective creidts
  •  Meets state eligibility criteria for ALC enrollment

This program will be capped at a limited number of students, and will only run if there are a minimum of 5 students enrolled.

9th Grade Summer Academy (Current grade 8): The 9th grade Summer Academy  allows students to prepare for 9th grade the summer before entering high school. Upon passing the class(es), students will be awarded a high school semester credit (.50) for Lakeville Area Schools. Please see the dean or counselor at your student’s school for a referral. 

This class is designed to enhance your child’s reading and math skills and to introduce new concepts that will foster success in math and English classes in high school.  9th Grade Summer Academy is hands-on, active, and fun.

Registration Process

  • See your dean or counselor for a referral
  • Please contact us to have a schedule mailed or emailed to your student.

If you are from another school district, we will also need a copy of your transcript, immunization records, and your State test scores.

Summer School Schedule

Credit Recovery (Current grades 9+) Students will be scheduled for specific periods to attend based on enrollment numbers. Students will be able to access their schedules on Student Portal before the start of Summer School.

Period 1: 8:00-9:30
Period 2: 9:30-11:00
Period 3: 11:00-12:30

Work Experience Program:

9th Grade Summer Academy:   with a 20 min. break for a quick snack or light lunch.
