We are committed to the safety and health and wellbeing of our families and community. As such, we will continue to provide you up-to-date information about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and our district’s prevention and preparation strategies. We continue to closely monitor the situation through the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and we are developing a district response plan based on public health recommendations, which continue to change rapidly.

Schools Closed Monday, March 16 – Sunday, March 29

On March 15, Governor Tim Walz ordered all schools in the state to close March 18-27 to help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Governor Walz indicated this mandatory school closure is to provide time for staff to prepare for distance learning.

Lakeville Area Schools has decided to cancel school earlier than Governor Walz’s order, beginning Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 29. This includes all programs, practices, activities and childcare. Students will not have required school work to complete at home during these next two weeks. Direction related to Quarter 3 work will be forthcoming.

During this time, staff will be finalizing an Extended Flex Learning Plan for the possibility of distance learning starting Monday, March 30. The district is also identifying additional needs that our families may have including childcare and meals.

Even though school is canceled, school buildings will be open Monday, March 16 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the sole purpose of allowing students and families to pick up any needed personal belongings. Medications can be picked up during regular school hours. If necessary we will implement our Extended Flex Learning Plan starting Monday, March 30.
