Lakeville Area Schools transportation is provided by Schmitty & Sons Bus Company current plan. In partnership with our bus company and in accordance with MDH guidelines, all transportation will operate at no more than 50% capacity at all times under the Hybrid Model to keep students safe. This means students will be spaced apart, but siblings will be able to sit together. Buses will be sanitized before and after each route. Per MDH requirements, all students are required to wear face coverings when riding the bus, and hand sanitizer will be available on each bus.
Optional: Opt-Out of Transportation
The District is working with Schmitty and Sons Bus Company to follow all MDH guidelines as we begin the new school year. Even while following health guidelines, we understand not all families will want their students to ride a bus to school. If your family would like to “Opt-Out” of school bus transportation, please complete this opt-out form as soon as possible. By letting us know that you are “opting out” of transportation, you are helping us plan and serve all families better.
If you live in an area where your student would normally ride the bus to school and if you can use alternative transportation, it’s important that you let us know. We are asking families to help us and their neighbors by using a different way of getting their students to school, if they can. For instance, you might be able to drive your children to school or your student might be able to walk or ride their bike if it’s safe.
As usual, per School Board policy, families who live in fee-based zones, will be receiving an email to register their child for transportation if they wish to opt-in.
