Scholarships are financial awards that are given to students, that do not have to be repaid. There are different scholarships that are awarded based on various criteria.
Common examples of criteria are: good grades, financial need, ethnic heritage, athletic or artistic talent or the degree that will be pursued in post secondary education. *Community service is the most common criteria required on scholarship applications.

By completing the 2019 LSHS Local Scholarship Application, students were automatically eligible for these scholarships:
Apple Autos Scholarship – 1 @ $2,500
Dakota Electric Association – 10 @ $1,000
Herff Jones – 2 @ $500
JFK Elementary Alumni – 1 @ $500 – Applicant must be an alumni of JFK Elementary
Kopp Family Foundation – 5 @ $500
Lakeville Lion Ray Jesh Memorial – 5 @ $1,000
Lakeville South Yearbook – 1 @ $500 – Applicant must have purchased a 2019 yearbook
Lakeview Elementary Alumni – 2 @ $500 – Applicant must be an alumni of Lakeview Elementary
Lon Hitch Soccer Scholarship – 1 @ $500 – Applicant must have participated in Lakeville South Boys Soccer
These Donor Applications require supplemental materials/ application in addition to the Local Application. Please print and complete the supplemental items and submit to Student Services no later than 3:00 pm on March 15, 2019.

Jacob Flynn Scholarship – 1 @ $5,000, 1 @ $2,500
Jake Flynn was an outstanding student athlete who attended Lakeville South High School. He excelled both academically and athletically. This memorial scholarship has been established in his honor with annual awards given to two Lakeville South and two Lakeville North Student Athletes.
Finalists will interview in Student Services between 2:45 pm-5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.Application

Lakeville South Boys Basketball Association – 2 @ $1,000
Awarded by LSBBA – Highly motivated student athlete – Leadership in the classroom and on the hardwood. Any boy who has ever been a LSBBA player with plans to attend college fall of 2019.

Lakeville South Girls Basketball Association – Multiple @ $1,000
Awarded by LSGBA – Highly motivated student athlete – Leadership in the classroom and on the hardwood. Any girl who has been involved in the Lakeville South Girls Basketball program at some point K-12. Planning to attend college fall of 2019.
Submit an essay on the following questions:
- How has basketball impacted your life and helped to prepare you for college?
- How have you been involved with LSGBA on the court (ex: years played) and off the court (ex: volunteer involvement with LSGBA)?
Lakeville South Yearbook Leadership – 2 @ $2,000

Lakeville South Yearbook Staff – 1 @ $1,000

Nate Rasmussen – 1 @ $1,500
Nate Rasmussen was a 1993 graduate of LHS. He was a 3 sport athlete; football, hockey and baseball. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and a spokesperson for D.A.R.E. After high school he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and played 2 years of minor league baseball. He then enrolled at St. John’s University, where he played football for the Johnnies and graduated Magna Cu Laude. Nate went to work for Target Corporation, becoming a manager at their corporate office in Minneapolis.
Nate Rasmussen was tragically killed in a car accident on May 18, 2002 and this scholarship was set up in his memory by family and friends.
Applicants must have at least a B+ average and have participated in a sport.
N.E.W. Lions Club Scholarship- 1 @ $1,000
Applicant must have a mailing address of New Market, Elko, or Webster. Be a resident of New Market or Webster Townships (address may be different than New Market, Elko, or Webster.) Be the son/daughter of a N.E.W. Lions Club member.Application
Red Cross – ?? @ $??? (number and amount depend on how much is raised during both blood drives)
Applicants must have helped in the administration of the Red Cross Blood Drives and be a Student Council/ HOSA Representative.
Submit a one page essay on: How has the blood drive affected you? What is the importance of the Blood Drive?
Robert Innes Memorial – 1 @ $1,000
The Robert Innes scholarship is available to any boy or girl who has grown up in a rural setting, been involved in agriculture or been a member of your local 4 H club.
Submit an essay on: How farming has influenced your life.
The Zibley Family Scholarship – 2 @ $1,500
Scholarships will be granted to one male and one female LSHS graduates who will attend the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities campus; following the educational path of Joe and Julia Zibley, both LHS and University of Minnesota graduates.Application
