A Year-End Message from Superintendent Baumann

alt="Superintendent Michael Baumann."As we near the end of 2019, I reflect on this year with pride for the progress, success and generosity of our Lakeville Area Schools community.

2019 has been a year of progress for Lakeville Area Schools. Every school is working hard to ensure they are meeting the needs of every child every day. We continued to improve upon centralized student enrollment, now in its second year. We’re pleased to have a brand new district office to welcome our new families when they come to enroll in our schools. While we haven’t had the opportunity to put it in motion yet, we are prepared for our first ever FLEX Day, which will allow our students to continue learning from home even if weather closes school buildings.

From academics to athletics, arts, activities and beyond, this was a year of success for our students. Success comes in many forms. For some students, success means mastering new concepts in class, pursuing new clubs, or trying new electives. For others, success is performing on the fields, rinks and courts, or giving back through community service. As a district, we are proud of each and every one of our students as they continue to grow and pursue their goals. We are honored to support them as they achieve success in many different ways.

Across our schools and buildings, students and staff have given back generously to our students and community. From our Ready, Set, Achieve! back-to-school readiness event to various donations that go to students in need, you are making sure our students have the tools they need to learn. Our students pass on the good deed to their community through toy collections, food and clothing drives, volunteering, and community service projects. I am so proud of the generosity and kindness of our students and staff.

I also want to thank our community for giving us so much to look forward to in the year ahead. Because of your approval of an operating levy and bond referendum this fall, we will be able to expand opportunities for students. This includes more electives for middle school students, more resources for teaching and learning in elementary schools, more full-time counselors in elementary schools, the construction of new activity facilities, and more. Planning for those construction projects is underway and we can’t wait to share some of those details soon.

Thanks to the Lakeville Area community, we have many reasons to celebrate this year. With your help, Lakeville Area Schools continues to be student focused and community connected. On behalf of the entire Lakeville Area Schools administration and Board of Education, we wish for your winter break to be filled with joy as you spend quality time with loved ones. I look forward to the many celebrations to come in 2020.

Sincerely,
