Attendance in the Hybrid Learning Model

The District and administrators at our elementary and secondary schools have received some questions regarding attendance for students in the Hybrid Learning model. We want to provide some clarity on how attendance is taken on the various types of learning days and how you can check your student’s attendance.

Elementary Attendance

On your student’s in-person days, teachers are responsible for marking your student present or absent. If a student misses an in-person day without permission, they will be marked with an “Unexcused Absence.”

On your student’s distance learning days, including Wednesdays, teachers are responsible for marking your student present or absent, based on their logged activity on these days. When your student participates on a distance learning day, they will be marked present by their teacher. Otherwise, your student will be marked absent. If you believe an absence mark is incorrect, please contact your teacher. The teacher will work with the attendance office to ensure corrections are made. In the Campus Parent Portal, you will see student absences on distance learning days marked as “Absent, Not Checked In.”

How to See Your Student’s Attendance on Infinite Campus Portal

Families can see their student’s attendance at any time on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Follow these simple instructions to check attendance.

Contacting Your School’s Attendance Office

If your student is ever marked with an “Unexcused Absence” for an in-person day, you will receive an automated phone call the day your student missed that in-person day. Teachers may reach out to families if students are continuously missing distance learning days. You will be asked to contact your school’s attendance office to provide a reason for your student’s absence, to explain if you think the absence is a mistake, or to ask any questions. If your student is ill, please describe the symptoms they are having. The following is the attendance office contact information for each elementary school.

Secondary Attendance

On your student’s in-person days, teachers are responsible for marking your student present or absent. If a student misses an in-person day without permission, they will be marked with an “Unexcused Absence.”

On your student’s distance learning days, including Wednesdays, students or their families must check-in once per each distance learning day through the Infinite Campus Portal. If students don’t check in by 11:59 p.m. on any given distance learning day, they will be marked as “Unexcused, Not Checked In.”

NOTE: High school students in the full-time Distance Learning Option must also follow this same check-in process.
