Lakeville Area School is excited to celebrate the Class of 2020’s high school graduation. As we’ve shared, graduation weekend celebrations will begin with a community parade in honor of the Class of 2020 on Saturday, June 6.
The parade will begin at 2 p.m. on June 6 from Lakeville South High School. It will travel along this 10-mile route around the city. Students and their immediate families are welcome to find a spot along the route. Seniors who plan to attend are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns as the parade passes by.
For the health and safety of yourself and those around you, we strongly ask you and your family to please resist the urge to gather in large groups along the parade route. Please follow safe social distancing guidelines. Your immediate family unit should stay at least 6 feet apart from one another. The parade route is 10 miles long to intentionally provide plenty of room for proper social distancing.
The parade will consist of Lakeville Area Schools officials including principals, the superintendent, and school board members. The Lakeville Police Department’s school resource officers will be in their police squads. The Lakeville Fire Department is sending fire trucks. Schmitty and Sons is sending several school buses. The Minnesota Army National Guard will be providing several military vehicles for this parade. All of the vehicles driven in the parade will be decorated with positive messages for the Class of 2020. Additionally, the National Guard will be providing a B-25 flyover from the Commemorative Air Force. The B-25 will be flying over the city and along the parade route for a full hour. Please know there may be large gaps between parade vehicles due to this not being structured completely like a normal parade.
We hope this parade will bring the Class of 2020 and the community some joy and get students excited for their official virtual commencement ceremonies on the evening of June 6. We are so proud of all of the Class of 2020’s accomplishments this year! We cannot wait to see what our graduates go on to do next.
