On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, the Lakeville Area Schools Board of Education approved a resolution declaring Custodial, Grounds and Maintenance Support Appreciation Week. Read the resolution:
Lakeville Area Schools recognizes September 21-25, 2020 as Custodial, Grounds and Maintenance Support Appreciation Week. Our custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff provide essential support to our more than 11,000 Lakeville Area students and more than 1,300 employees. This week we celebrate our thanks and gratitude for these essential staff.
Whereas: The Custodial/Grounds/Maintenance Service Employees International Union Local 284 bargaining unit includes 66 full-time custodial staff, 12 part-time custodial staff, seven grounds staff and four maintenance staff;
Whereas: Custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff care for 15 facilities, 1.9 million square feet and 613 acres;
Whereas: Custodial, grounds and maintenance staff provide staff and students a welcoming, safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient facilities and building grounds;
Whereas: Custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff work with all stakeholders to foster a sense of community and pride within our schools and district.
Whereas: This year custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff worked hard to help sort and deliver more than 100,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to all schools and district facilities to protect against COVID-19;
Whereas: Custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff are continuously keeping buildings and facilities sanitized as much as possible to create safe learning environments for students and staff amid the COVID-19 pandemic;
Therefore, let it be resolved: The Board of Education hereby extends its appreciation to custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff for supporting the education of our students, and declares September 21-25, 2020 to be Custodial, Grounds and Maintenance Support Appreciation Week in Lakeville Area Schools.
