District 194 Candidate Filing Opens July 31

Looking to serve and support your district? Residents interested in joining the Lakeville Area Board of Education are invited to submit an affidavit of candidacy between July 31 and August 14.

Candidate requirements:

  • Eligible voter
  • At least 21 years old when the term begins in January 2019
  • Resident of District 194 within 30 days before the general election

Candidate Filing Packets are now available for pick up at the Lakeville Area Public Schools District Office, 8670 210th Street West, during regular office hours, 7:15 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

  • Affidavit of Candidacy form
  • 2018 Campaign Manual

Filing Deadline: 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 14

Affidavits should be hand-delivered to the District Office before the filing deadline. Filing candidates must sign the Affidavit of Candidacy form in person at the District Office in front of a notary public.

Three Four-Year Terms Up For Election

Up for election are the seats of Board of Education Clerk Jim Skelly, Director Kathy Lewis and Chair Michelle Volk, whose terms expire Dec. 31, 2018. Elected board members will assume office in January 2019 and serve a four-year term.

Michelle Volk was first elected to the Lakeville Area Board of Education in 2000. After 19 years of service to Lakeville Area Public Schools, Volk has formally announced her intention to run for a Lakeville City Council Member position in the 2018 election.
