Important Winter Weather Announcement
Lakeville Area Families,
Due to the forecasted extreme winter weather, Lakeville Area Schools would like to take this opportunity to inform parents and staff of the weather guidelines we follow for closings, delayed starts and early dismissals.
School, as well as District activities, programs and services, may be canceled or delayed by Superintendent Michael Baumann in the event of unsafe weather conditions. The Superintendent monitors the weather closely with his team of advisors, including our bus company, city administrators and other area district superintendents, and makes every effort to announce closings, delays or early dismissals as early as possible.
Decisions regarding evening Community Education programs, district co-curricular sports and activities and facility use by non-District community groups will be determined by 1 p.m. and communicated as early as possible.
Upon a decision to cancel, delay start or early dismissal, families will receive a phone call, email and text message to the emergency contact listed in Infinite Campus. School closings, delays and early dismissals will also be posted on isd194.org and on our Facebook and Twitter pages. An official announcement will also be made on radio station WCCO (830 AM), and TV stations WCCO (Channel 4), KARE (Channel 11), KSTP(Channel 5) and KMSP (Channel 9).
Parents should be sure children dress appropriately for the weather during these exceptionally cold days. Note that when adverse weather conditions exist, buses may run late. Parents are advised to make plans for the care of their children in the event of a school closing, late start or early dismissal.
Parents and guardians always have a choice to keep their children home if they feel the weather conditions are unsafe. Parents should report the absence to their school. All such absences will be considered excused.
Superintendent Baumann will continue to monitor the weather forecast through this weekend and week.
