Following a rigorous selection process that involved many stakeholders, Lakeville Area Schools Superintendent Michael Baumann announced on May 10, 2019 the hiring of Kimberly Budde to be the next principal at Lakeville North High School, pending formal School Board action May 14.
Budde is currently an assistant principal at Rosemount High School, where she has worked since 2006. She will officially take over as principal at Lakeville North on July 1.
Budde said, “I am honored to have been selected to be the next principal of Lakeville North High School and look forward to working with staff, students and parents to continue the school’s long-standing tradition of excellence.”
Prior to becoming an assistant principal, Budde worked as a dean at Lakeville North High School from 2005-2006 and as a dean at Edina High School from 2003-2005. Prior to serving as a school administrator, Budde was a band director and music teacher at Valley View Middle School in Edina from 1996-2003. In 2015, Ms. Budde was named Assistant Principal of the Year by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators.
Budde has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, a Master of Arts in Education degree from Saint Mary’s University, and an Education Leadership Specialist degree from University of St. Thomas.
“Kim is a proven educational leader in our area and committed to the success of students,” Baumann said. “I know her passion for kids and community, combined with her skill set and leadership experience, will continue the legacy of student success at Lakeville North High School.”
Budde will replace Marne Berkvam, who is retiring after serving as principal at Lakeville North High School for the past 13 years.
