Ellen Parker Named Nurse of the Year by the School Nurses of Minnesota

EllenParkerLakeville Area Schools Nurse Ellen Parker has been recognized by the School Nurses of Minnesota (SNOM) as School Nurse of the Year. The award recognizes one school nurse each year who has demonstrated excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health. 

Parker has worked for Lakeville Area Schools for 16 years. Prior to serving in her current role as the district’s licensed school nurse, she worked as a health assistant at Lake Marion Elementary and Century Middle School 

Century Middle School Principal Jason Bakke said, “Ellen consistently demonstrates excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health. This excellence starts with her servant attitude. Ellen’s approach to health care is one of love. Her passion, gentle approach, positive attitude is second to none. She is able to quickly and efficiently help any area of concern.”

According to SNOM, the SNOM Awards Committee reviews and scores nominees who are members of the organization, have completed five years of experience in school nursing, and currently practice as a school nurse. Evidence of excellence in school nursing practice is based on the National Association of School Nurses Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice.

The award will be presented to Parker at the SNOM Annual Conference.
