Student volunteers from Lakeville North High School’s Business Academy welcomed guests, offered refreshments and ushered presenters through the halls of Lakeville North High School on October 11.
Nearly 40 Lakeville Area professionals from a variety of fields were present to speak with students and answer questions during the school’s annual Career Day seminar.
Each classroom hosted between two and four volunteer panelists, who were chosen for their professional backgrounds to represent a general career pathway, and roughly 30 junior-level students, who were matched based on a recent career interest assessment.
Cindy Nolan is the Career Pathways Coordinatory with Lakeville Area Schools and worked to coordinate the Career Day seminars.
“I love the energy in the high school on Career Day,” she said. “Students have the opportunity to engage with professionals, teachers stay informed on career advice and community members enjoy helping students with their future.”
Career Day participation is a graduation requirement of all Lakeville Area high school students, and students arrived prepared with questions.
Career Day is hosted at both Lakeville North and Lakeville South high schools in partnership with the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce, with the generous participation of volunteer panelists from around the Lakeville Area community.
