Chairperson Michelle Volk and Director Jim Skelly will depart the Lakeville Area Schools Board of Education officially on Dec. 31. After a combined 34 years of service on the Board, Volk will begin her newly elected position serving on the Lakeville City Council, and Skelly will continue to actively support public education as the Director of Communications and Public Relations with Anoka-Hennepin School District.
At the Nov. 27 School Board meeting, Volk and Skelly were recognized for being strong advocates for public education. From establishing policies to administer an effective school system, to being critical voices that enable our community to preserve local management and control, to representing our local education interests to state and federal governments, these members have helped ensure strong schools. In recognition of their support and dedication to the success of Lakeville Area students, student-made awards created in the Lakeville South High School STEM Program were presented to the two members.
